Lynn Hollars: Equality, period.Straight couples are given so many more rights than gay couples simply because of who they are attracted to. It's discrimination to not give gay couples the same rights.
Gladys Worthing: Marriage provides over a thousand different rights that are otherwise denied gay couples.
Vince Delarge: Because it's fair. Why discriminate just because of religion, which half of this country doesn't even believe in anymore. I have this conversation with my mom and she always takes a religious stand point, but take God out of the picture and there is no real reason at all, except people are big headed and have nothing better to do than just to make people who are different feel bad. What if i said, because you're not gay, you can't get a "civil union?" wouldn't that be discriminating against you? Or, say, my god says i'm not allowed to condone being straight. Sorry. That's just the way it is. (haha, i wish)...Show more

Alane Antes: Im just anwser in but im not gay, but i think since im an open minded person, some reasons for gay marriage is for the homos to have the same equal rights as the straight people like us have, the second reason is that if two people really love each other, they should have a right to get married, without no one stopping them. SInce you are a gurl, how would you like if women had no rights just like they did hundreds of years ago, how would you feel??? Those are some reasons that people should really consider gay marriage....Show more
Cassidy Pangrazio: Because it would make a lot of good people happy. Also that there are no valid reasons why not.
Dawn Saha: It would afford legal protections for my partner and me, the same legal protections given to those in male-female marriages. A good example here is Social Security. When the husband dies the wife gets a survivor's pension. In ! gay relationships when one partner dies all the money goes rig! ht back to Uncle Sam and the surviving partner is left out in the cold. How right is that?In 2004, the Government Accounting Office identified 1138 rights accorded to male-female marriage partners but denied same-gender couples. Some examples:.. Gay couples in many places have no legal right to visit a partner in the hospital and can be barred from the room by hospital personnel... Gay couples cannot ask for or receive domestic violence protection orders... Gay couples are denied special consideration for the immigration of a spouse... Gay couples can be denied housing because they are gay. Those are just a few of the most glaring ones.It would be nice to know that we are not second-class citizens in a country which apparently was founded on the principle of equality....Show more
