Public transportation and beach temperatures? California questions?

Raul Lushbaugh: Public transit stinks here, mainly because it's so far from one place to another. For example, it's about 20 miles from downtown LA to the beach.Water temps are in the mid 50's during winter, and get up to the mid 60's in the hottest part of summer. It's a bit warmer in San Diego, but you need to go to Mexico for warmer temps.Irvine is a good place to live.Busses are there, but traffic here is terrible. Roni Kurz: Public transportation is slow and inefficient. It takes too long because the LA/OC area covers 500 square miles. Driving is faster than public transportation. It's especially hard when you have to go from LA County to Orange County like Long Beach and Irvine are. Not very many people! go to the beach in Long Beach. Due to 2 rivers emptying their pollution out onto the beaches and the Port of Long Beach it's not the best place to go to the beach.We get our ocean currents from Alaska so the water is usually cold. Water temps can be 45-65 degrees. Surfers wear wetsuits in order to stay warm. Because of traffic and distance Irvine and Long Beach are about an hour or more apart. Irvine is a much nicer town than Long Beach. Their crime rate is non-existent compared to Long Beach and the town is clean and modern. It also costs a lot more than Long Beach. Live in Irvine if you have the choice. Long Beach has pockets of nice neighborhoods and Irvine, as a whole, is all nice. Look into neighboring Seal Beach or Los Alamitos if you want to live in the Long Beach area....Show more
