Should I commute two hours to school, or live on campus?

Loriann Carrigan: If I live off campus it would be with my mom, and I would work 10 hours a week max.

Shad Bushweller: another thing you should consider is the social gain you will have living on campus...if that is something that is important to you...

Filiberto Amauty: I would suggest living on campus. It would be much, much easier. There are many reasons to live on campus.First, you will be sure to make your classes on time. College teachers or professors can drop you if you miss a minimum of three days of classes. Trust me, I know many students who missed three class periods (two class periods for only two days a week) and were dropped. They didn't even get a refund for the money they paid on thier classes.Second, you might have to do group work and meet everyday (college is famous for group work). If you live on campus, then all you have to do is walk over to where your group is meeting at. You will waste a lot of gas if you have to commute everyday just ! for an hour with your group.Third, you can easily use the library, computers (if you don't have one or a printer), tutors, success centers, etc. You will have to do a lot of research papers. I would have to say I use the library 5 days a week during school time and I am in there for 2 or 3 hours or more.Fourth, you don't have to worry about bad weather. If you have to drive, then you might wake up, drive all the way to school, and then realize school was canceled. Also, you could get into a really bad car accident.Fifth, you will save a lot of wear and tear on your car. This means you will not have to spend as much money on getting your car fixed for numerous reasons (tires, oil change, battery, etc). Keeping your car in good shape is very important. If you commute then you might have to get a new car and that is money out of your pocket.Sixth, you will also be tired after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Trust me. When I did school on only these two days, I was at school ! from 8:30 am to about 7 in the evening. I was so tired that I ! just wanted to go straight to bed. You will not feel like driving after this long day of school. Also, if you live on campus then you can sleep in a little bit more and stay awake longer at night finishing your homework without worrying if you are going to wake up on time and make it to class. You won't be as rushed.Seventh, you might have to reach your professor in a hurry and living on campus would make this much easier.Eighth, you will make friends more easily and will want to hang out with them. If you commute this will be a lot harder to do. Also, there might be some clubs you will want to join.Ninth, you will not have time or feel like working your job. Now days, as things are, you might not be able to find a job while going to school.Tenth, as of now, gas prices keep going up so you never know how much you will have to pay. Living on campus will reduce this by a lot. What are some solutions? Maybe you can do work study and this helps you pay for college. Also, try for! some scholarships (which are very, very hard to get). You can also ask around and find any groups to join that could pay for your college. Some include ROTC or Americorps. Even though it will cost a lot, after you get your degree and hopefully a job then you will be able to pay it back.I was considering living at home and commuting 2 1/2 hours to school each day so I could attend this one univeristy. I have to live at home for personal reasons (which I am okay with). Then I weighed the pros and cons and figured out that it wasn't a good idea. So I decided to stick around and choose a college around me. The negative side to this decision is that no college around me has what I want to go into. So I suggest livingn on campus so you can make sure and go into the career that you want. Don't go into something you don't want to go into. It sucks. Trust me. I am still deciding my career based on what the colleges around me offer. One more thing is that you can also ask for a sing! le room (this cost more money though). The price sucks but it is worth l! iving on campus. I think in the long run you will save a lot of money. You will also get the true college experience.I wish you the best of luck!...Show more

Ardell Luy: I on no account even viewed dwelling on campus. I have social anxiousness and could not reside with a man or woman I have no idea. Besides that, commuting saves plenty of cash on university. The simplest drawback is having lengthy breaks among categories when you consider that you can not cross residence. I simplest reside 25 mins from campus, so the shuttle is not dangerous. If I lived farther away, I could typically get an condo as an alternative than survive campus....Show more

Pattie Vold: its only two days a week so im sure living off campus and commuting is the best option as it is cheaper
