Do you think that male vegetarians get picked on more than female vegetarians?

Tomi Vauters: Protein is not an issue without meat if you eat a well balanced diet. 99% of people in developed countries get too much protein anyway so your grumpiness isnt due to lack of protein I'm sure.Beans and whole grains (whole wheat pasta, brown rice, quinoa) are both very good sources of protein. I replace beans for meat in many dishes like lentil tacos, chili, stews and soups etc.The trouble with people who center their lives around meat and than give it up, don't replace it properly with good wholesome food. The people above me are clueless. Meat is not something that human beings "need"

Carmelina Enoch: Yes. According to some Neanderthals, you're some kind of big manly man if you eat meat. According to those same Neanderthals, if you eat only vegetables, you're some kind of wimp. However, if you eat meat, most likely, you didn't kill it yourself You're just eating the efforts of some minimum wage grunt who didn't kill your food properly nor who ga! ve enough of a d*mn to make sure your food was safely killed. You're just eating something somebody else killed which might give you a nasty infection. Since you're eating animal fat, which goes straight to your arteries, you're killing yourself for an illusion of manliness and toughness. I'd rather have my soy burgers, thank you. My manliness comes from the fact that I've been doing martial arts for 3 years, I aggressively ride my mountain bike in places god would send Osama Bin Laden to after he dies and I work out every day in a weight room, not from eating the carcass of a dead animal.:David H- Don't you EVER call yourself a vegetarian again. You're not a vegetarian. If you eat any kind of meat, including fish, you. are. a. an. omnivore....Show more

Vernon Martorana: Tofu. and yeah I dont know how that will make you not notice your eating meat b/c its disgusting. Eat meat. It is the way of the world. This is a stage you are going through. When I was 12 i to! ld my mom I wanted to vegetarian and she said no, but she did ! tell me I could cut out red meat and still eat chicken and turkey. A year later I quit. but i still only eat turkey burgers!! ahhah. So maybe start out with cutting out red meat first then move to tofu. GOOD LUCK TO YOU THOUGH!

Dexter Dingus: My teacher told me there is a store that gives out protein without meat and it's known as Vitamin World or GNC. It's cheap and good there for all he told me.

Will Camus: Mayo Clinic - Vegetarian diet: How to get the best nutritionhttp://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vegetarian-diet/H...

Clementina Collelo: i am a vegetarian because i do not believe it is good to harm animals in the processing of meats. we shouldn't kill living things God put on this earth just for our taste buds. i don't eat fish or any meat at all, that is also animals. i am not vegan, so i do drink milk and eat cheese and eggs. i try to avoid leather or anything that an animal was harmed to make.

Marita Stadick: Why are you a vegetarian?I was rais! ed in a vegetarian family. I am almost vegan now.And do you eat fish or any other type of meat produce? No. Never have, never will.Do you use any product made from animals? eg leatherYes, I have leather shoes and a leather belt. Once they wear out, I will buy synthetic leather which doesn't have animal products in it.What is this survey for? Just curious....Show more

Carter Edstrom: My daughter became vegetarian about a year and a half ago. She loved meat but suddenly realized the love for animals came first. She not only gave up meat but as she says"everything that has a face" She lost a drastic amount of weight since this was new to her body. I had also taken her to see the pediatrician who recommended certain vitamins that she would be lacking since deciding on this. I think if you are serious about this you should think of it as my daughter "life style" See your doctor and ask questions:) potatoes are good any way you would like.

Hollis Demasters: You can sti! ll get a lot of protein from milk, dairy products, beans and vegetables! , soya stuff... If you decide that you still keep eating fish, then you may not crave other meat as much. I have been a veggie for over half of my life and haven't missed the meat at all. Only when I smell nice bacon cooking or smoked sausages cooking, it makes me want to eat them. But some stuff smells better sometimes than it actually tastes:) Veggie hotdogs can taste really nice, so maybe you could try them. Frozen soya mince can be a really good substitute in cooking, if you add a lot of stuff to it and spice it up, otherwise it is bland. But use the right spices and you will see the difference!

Ramon Dahlheimer: 1. B/c I don't own a farm where I raise the animals and kill them humanely using their meat as a treat and using their other bodies parts responsibly, humanely and w/ honor and dignity to the animal.2. No, but I feed my son fish in an otherwise veg diet.3. Yes, I have leather items that I owned b/f going veggie. I have thought about this question long! and hard and I think if I loved a certain handbag by a certain designer (PRADA) and could find it vintage that I would be willing to own leather....Show more

Jesusita Dykhoff: I'm a vegetarian for the reason that I don't like the thought of killing animals for human consumption.so me, or any other vegetarian eating fish would be extremely hypocritical. People always say "oh well fish isn't meat, you should eat it, blah blah blah" , Fish are still animals, so.....and no, i don't use leather, fur, or anything that kills the animal....Show more

Sol Bayn: Yes ... and to be very frank, I find them pretty wimpy.

Rubye Bonnin: I'm vegan because I do not wish to take part in the suffering and brutal slaughtering of farm animals.I absolutely don't eat those things.I do my very best to not buy other products made from animals. I go out of my way to buy vegan shoes, clothes, bathroom products, etc. But it's very hard to avoid everything.

Madge Voice: I think! it's about equal but vegans even more so. I wish that people did not f! eel the need to criticize other people so much. Men probably advertise it less, that has been my experience.

Madlyn Fallis: Why are you a vegetarian?Animal treatment, environment, health-- in that order. And do you eat fish or any other type of meat produce?nope. Do you use any product made from animals? eg leatherNot in clothing, or every-day life activities except for some wool socks. But i do make exceptions for sports, it's what i love so i'm willing to make a sacrifice and wear leather boots/use leather equipment etc. What about you?...Show more

Leif Serabia: I would not recommend becoming a vegetarian....you really do need to eat meat. The main thing to remember is to eat the right kind of meat, like grass fed beef, fish (like salmon and talapia), and free range chicken. However, if you want to become a vegetarian, or at least eat less meat, try to eat high protein foods, like nuts and beans. Any kind of nuts, and any kind of beans. They are a good source o! f protein. To ease the "pain" of going off meat, try things like veggie burgers. You can find a lot of these pretend meats at the stores. They are made of veggies, but taste a lot like meat! You can get chicken nuggets, buffalo wings, hamburgers, etc.

Basil Blasingame: Might as well label this as "diet survey" because this isn't a vegetarian survey. Vegetarians don't eat meat. But for the leather part, no I don't wear leather or fur.

Charissa Bichsel: you should not become vegetarian because from not eating protein you will become rly pale and you will start to loose your hair.. but if you rly want to become one eat peanut butter and to foo

Dale Mccoun: I've been veg. for 20 years and no one has really ever "picked on" me.(I'm a guy.)

Spencer Heidtbrink: My husband is a at once male. he's 36 and he has been a vegan for 14 years. he's 6 ft tall, and one hundred seventy five lbs. he's have been given a super abdomen and advantageous pecks as because of ! the vegetables and Kenpo Karate. i comprehend 2 extra at once male vege! tarians so upload 3 extra on your record. i think of that extra adult men could be vegetarians in the event that they did not connect manliness to eating meat. various adult men think of they ought to take a extensive glob of bloody steak and swallow it finished to coach how manly they are. i in my view think of that it takes a real guy to take a stand for the animals. A vegetarian or vegan guy has the capability to abstain from merciless food and the self administration to not provide in to our societies extraordinary hang up with meat. And it extremely is barely a delusion that vegetarian adult men are vulnerable and pail. My husband can throw somebody heavier than him onto the floor in Karate and that i comprehend he could preserve me no be counted what. the affection he provides me is so organic and actual. no person has ever given me that form of love earlier. he's the only vegetarian I even have ever been with. It makes me think of that perhaps he loves in a fashion t! hat basically a vegetarian guy can love. whilst i think of approximately how some adult men are not afflicted via the suffering of harmless animals, i ask your self how they might love a woman. How ought to they have such little regard for harmless animals and then turn around and be humane and loving to their spouse or female pal. Does that help in any respect?...Show more

Jose Calaycay: I bought a juicer. Besides the usual fruits and vegetables, what other health additives can be added into the mix? Where can I buy these ingredients?

Ezekiel Kadner: If you are going to make your own juice, you can find many many recipes on the web.VegWeb has a number of recipes: http://vegweb.com/index.php?board=185.0Living & Raw Foods also has a number of recipes: http://www.living-foods.com/recipes/juicerecipes.h...Google "raw juice recipes" and you will find a great number of sites which have juice recipes.Enjoy your new juicer. I have loved mine since the day I got it..! ..Show more

Hyman Coren: well i totally hate eating meat cause i ! love animals and it is also very healthy and good for you to be vegetarian. but i eat meat regularly and i tend to get grump when i dont have enough protein.easy way to get more protein and kind of not notice your not eating meat?lol thanks =)

Launa Weingarten: Sweetie, you're not getting the grumps because of a lack of protein :) You're getting grumpy because you're eating too much meat! Those are withdrawel symptoms, from when your body thinks you should be eating more - but you shouldnt be!Let me explain honey:- Human beings did not evolve to have access to easy meat. As part of a natural, balanced, and healthy diet.. we WOULD eat meat, but only a little. Because meat is actually quite important to our diet and health, we evolved to crave it, to eat as much as we could because it was in short supply - that has totally backfired now, because TOO MUCH is available to us now, so we eat wayyyy too much and then many of us suffer withdrawel symptoms if we skip meat (if ! we're regular meat eaters). If you're one of these people, it is a VERY good idea to go Veggie! With the food technology we have now, we can imitate the nutrients in meat with non-meat products - thats why being Vegetarian or Vegan is alot healthier than eating too much meat now :)There was a point where humans needed meat - did you know our brains wouldn't have gotten so advanced without the stuff?? - but because of our food technology now, you do not need to eat meat... (unless you're one of those unlucky people who have health issues, and DO have to keep to a natural diet including meat.. thats very hard to do :( )You will easily get enough protein cutting out meat! All it takes from you is a little willpower to get through the 'meat withdrawel symptoms'!Here are things that can help you get enough protien while you're making the change! Eat lots of these things!:-Nuts & seeds-Pulses-Soya stuff (tofu, soya milk)-Cereals-Eggs & dairy!***Important!!!!!!*** Please, also make! sure that you take vitamin suppliments while you're making the change ! to being a Veggie! You can buy some pills - or even kids chewey pills will be fine - from your local drug store or health food shop. Until you get the hang of a varied and balanced veggie diet, these will REALLY help you to feel better!!And remember: The grumps arn't because of lack of protein, just withdrawel from a meat diet! So just trudge through it!Good luck!!

Donnie Bolio: I sometimes think that is true. Here is a very interesting link I came across. It talks about how and why people view meat as being masculine and vegetables as being feminine.

Jefferson Sarson: Why are you a vegetarian? And do you eat fish or any other type of meat produce?Do you use any product made from animals? eg leather

Emile Midgley: U can go 2 WWW.GOVEG.COM & order a free starter kit... Veggies have lots of protein

Coy Tapley: I'm a Flexitarian, not a Vegetarian. The term "Flexitarian" is itself a pretty recent invention. Before 2006 (when I first heard the term), a F! lexitarian would have been called a "moderate" vegetarian. For me, it means I may eat meat with one meal, once every two weeks or so. So, of every 14 days, I'm a vegetarian for 13 of them, and get my proteins from beans, nuts, soy, seitan, and such foods. My rationale, I was a full vegetarian before, and even tried veganism, but my meat craving becomes overwhelming. The first time I tried it, about 5 years ago, I went back to eating a normal, American diet. (meat with nearly every meal) I think it's better to do what I do, than to completely fall of the wagon. It's probably a very natural way to eat too. Think about how our ancestors hunted meat for the past 200,000 years. Every day, we came upon nuts and berries and vegetables and such. . . If we were meant to eat meat every day, God would have made deer slower. (Do you know how hard it is to hunt down a deer with a spear?... evolutionarily speaking, bows and arrows are recent inventions)...Show more

Tomeka Hameen: r! eal men eat meat ! lol i could care less if someone a vegetarian or not! i wrote what pooped in mind

Vince Delarge: Vegetarians get picked on? :P I wouldn't imagine vegetarian men would get any more grief than vegetarian women.

Filiberto Ranalli: There are just less male vegetarians, since women seem to be more concerned about health than men. But I don't know about getting picked on, I've never observed it.

Jen Maday: the healthiest vegetable to drink is called: Karela.(ALSO KNOWN AS BITTER GOURD) it is green and bumpy on the outside and extremely bitter! if you mix it with celery and carrots, it adds alot of vitamins and sweetens it a bit. You can buy it at your local grocery store, and if you cant find it however, try a store catered to difefrent cultures such as carribbean or chinese. here is a link about he health benefits--site reccomends to juice it! =)http://lifestyle.iloveindia.com/lounge/benefits-of... here are the health benefits listed: 100 grams of bitter gourd comprises of the following nutrients: Calcium - 19 m! g Copper - 0.034 mg Dietary Fiber - 3 g Dietary Folate Equivalents - 72 mcg Folate - 72 mcg Food Folate - 5.6 mcg Iron - 0.43 mg Magnesium - 17 mg Manganese - 0.089 mg Pantothenic Acid - 0.212 mcg Phosphorus - 31 mg Potassium - 296 mg Protein - 1 g Selenium - 0.2 mcg Sodium - 5 mg Sodium - 5 mg Total Carbohydrates - 4 g Zinc - 0.8 mg Vitamin A Vitamin C Calcium Total Fat - 0g Saturated Fat - 0g Cholesterol - 0 mg Folic Acid - 0 mcg Sugars - 0 g other than my my favourites are: CELERY-helps gout-lowers blood pressurevitamin a&b POMEGRANITECARROTSASPARAGUSBEETSAPRICOTS AND MORE! Carli Watterson: I don't know...I've heard female vegetarians referred to as "tree-huggers".On the other hand, I've been referred to as a "tofu fartin' tree-huggin' pinko commie fairy".On a more serious note, there aren't! many vegetarians (about 3% in America) and veg*n women outnumber veg*n! men 2 to 1. Basically, male vegetarians are a minority within a minority. If they're vegan, I guess they would be a minority within a minority within a minority. It's easy to make fun of a particular group when you outnumber them 100 to 1....Show more

Dick Ovdenk: Why are you a vegetarian?I'm actually a vegan which is a very strict (or pure) vegetarian. I'm vegan for the animals, for my health, for the environment, and for world hunger (it takes more grain to feed a cow than it does a person. Just feed the person). And do you eat fish or any other type of meat produce? No. A true vegetarian does not eat any meat or meat derivatives. A pescatarian eats fish with a vegetarian diet, but anyone who eats other animals is just fooling themselves. Do you use any product made from animals? eg leatherNot if I can avoid it. Even my soap and shampoo is vegan....Show more

Damaris Weiler: Yes. For some reason many morons think it's "manly" to eat meat. Not quite sur! e what the hell that's about. The dominating-just-because-i-am-man! thing is a little too neanderthalish for me. UG! ME DUMBASS! ME KILL THINGS!

Particia Thorton: I am a former classically trained french chef, from Canada, I worked all over the country and a few exotic places in my 20 + yr career, and most men were raised as meat eaters, with the mother's cooking and them eating what was put in front of them, developing an alternative lifestyle toward vegetarianism is harder, and women by most sences are more compassionate, trusting and have more stable convictions when it comes to ethical issues.I became a vegetarian 4 yrs ago when my doctor put me on a calorie reducing diet because of my diabetic condition, I do eat the ocassional egg, some cheese, fish in the form of tuna and some artifical crabmeat and occasional fish and chip dinner. The male respondants are quite correct, and it is a lifestyle change that most men cannot grasp, they have been raised to feel a! nything other than meat is for sissy's, they should be more socially re! spectful like women and see the bigger picture, I am 50 and hope with my changes to see retirement even though I am also on a disability....Show more

Boris Hadsall: I am a vegetarian for a few reasons :1. I love animals. 2. When I ate meat I felt sad.3. I try to stand out. I eat eggs and dairy products. I don't think there's anything wrong with eating something that was never an animal in the first place. I don't buy anything that kills animals. But there are shoes that i bought before i became vegetarian that i still wear. -__- i just cant throw them away....Show more
