Arnette Dominici: If you're referring to physically cleaning the chip to remove dust, it won't have any noticeable impact/improvement on speed. If you want to increase it's clock speed, you can try over-clocking it. Again, it may not produce much noticeable improvement but it's worth a try.
Virgil Loatman: Do you mean cleaning as in cleaning the dust off of it? If so, one should clean their PC of any dust on occasion. Otherwise, the clogged dust could cause overheating as the dust traps in heat. If your PC is overheating, cleaning out the dust can stop it and could potentially speed up the computer as components tend to underclock themselves if the temperature is too high.I hope this helps!...Show more

Armanda Hertel: if you are referring to the CPU chip in a modern PC.....the only advantage to cleaning away dust that is clogging the heatsink and fan is to re! duce the chance of overheating, which would cause the PC to shut down before permanent damage occurs.
